2 Pencils and a Sword

This is my basic pencil piece. I learned the basics of Illustrator by following a step-by-step guide to make it.

This is the pencil where I was able to be creative. I decided to go with the nighttime motif for it. I always liked stars and I feel like it just made sense for me to do this. I really like how this turned out, especially the bowl which I used the gradient tool.

This is the piece I'm really proud of. This is what really challenged me on what I'm able to do in Illustrator. Both the sword and the shield went through multiple changes until I became happy with my final design

My 3 takeaways
1. Learning how to use the various shape tools.
2. Learning how to use the smart guides to my advantage and make it look good and symmetrical.
3. I learned how to use the direct select tool so I can only choose certain parts of my object and move them.

  1. I love the stars, but to make it more space-y, try to add some blue!

  3. That's really cool! especially your Sword and Shield, though perhaps you could've added a gradient to them a little to remove some of the flatness?
