My Logo

What Is a Logo?

A personal logo can really tell someone who you are and what you're all about. It is an important part of personal branding and is imperative to any designer, new or seasoned. Today I'm going to be showing off my own logo that I made! It took a long time and many hours of head scratching to even come up with a final design, but in the end, it was totally worth it!

The Early Designs

Whenever you make a logo, early designs are... rough to say the least. They may even be laughably bad once you're done with it, but they are important so you can get all the bad ideas out of your system early on. Something you may need to take into account is that once you get a design you think is okay, don't think you're tied to it! Keep trying new things and you can make something you would've never thought of before because it stemmed off another design. As you can see by my early designs, they are terrible. But the important part is the fact that I grew from them. Failure is the most important part of any design process, and it is doubly true with logo design. Work off your failure and reach points you would've never dreamed of ever before.

Symbolism is for more than just books

In any high school English class, you will search in books about things like color or what certain things represent. Well, it isn't limited to just literature! Look at logos and you will see colors and designs used that are made you feel a certain way. Don't feel bad for falling for them, either. They are proven to stimulate certain feelings within us that are held deep down. When making a logo, always think about that! Things like color choice are very important, so be sure to do research. If you are a company that specializes in providing serious business help, maybe going for rainbow gradients or bright colors are the best idea. There are tons of websites that go into great detail about what to do and what not to do. When in doubt, check on those! As you can see in my logo, I went for an arrow like design that was multi-colored, showing that I'm always moving forward and do what I need to do. The colors show my fun and interesting personality and that I'm willing to try really anything.

The Finishing Touches

A website is never really done, and nearly any designer will agree with that fact. What you have to do, though, is find the things that and find a design that you can really say you feel is done. Again for the finishing touches, look for that symbolism and try to find the things that humans will instantly think and recognize. Also be sure to collaborate and talk to people, as they may give you ideas that you would've never thought of before. Once you feel that your logo truly shows who you are and what you're about, that means it is time to go ahead and say you're done. Once all that is over, give yourself a pat on the back! Making a logo isn't easy, but you did it!
