Intro
New year, (kinda) new software! Over the summer, I updated to the next version of Photoshop, so now it's at Photoshop CC! As such, getting used to a few new features is a good way to get to know the changes of the new program. While researching, I decided to look into something kind of minor but still very handy: filters! I'm looking at the 3 new filters, photo frame, trees, and flames. In the picture you are seeing, you may notice all 3 are in use. In order to use the following filters, it is actually easier than you would think!
Flames
One of the more fun filters is adding fire to it! The basics for it is very easy, all you need to end up doing is just making a path with any tool that has the ability (pen comes to mind) and have it selected. Once that is done, go to the top and press the filter button. Once there, go to render, and then click 'flame'. From there it is pretty self explanatory as you need to mess with pretty straightforward options in order to make your flames look just right. That's it!
Picture Frame
Again, this one is rather simple. As you can tell by the images, all it will do is add a fake picture frame to any picture you want. Though novel, there are some situations where this could be rather useful, such as when writing some kind of cards to make them look ornate. Follow the same steps as before, but instead of pressing flames, instead click picture frame. Alter the dimensions to what you need, move it to where it is around what you need, and you're done!
Trees
By far my favorite, the tree tool lets you make, get this, trees! It renders a large variety of trees on the fly and as such lets you add multiple fairly realistic looking trees into a landscape. Have a dead tree in an otherwise beautiful orchard? Instead of just trying to take it way, just try and cover it up with this tool! In order to access this tool, it is, like the last two, go to filter > render > tree. From there, the world is your oyster in what you can create... as long as it is a tree.
