Final Carton Design

The Project

The project itself was to create a carton dieline based upon a real life toy that you have. This was a team project, where the packaging actually had to double as something else. It could double as really anything, but we decided on doing a display case for a figurine line called 'amiibo'.

The Dieline

The dieline was actually harder than it seems, as what had to happen was create it two sided. You can only see one side here, but trust me, there's two sides. Due to the odd shape of the box (with flaps and a hole on the inside to actually have the amiibo be shown).  Of course we had to make the back and sides, though. It was a difficult task to do and understand, but I was able to pull through with the help of my team.

amiibos

amiibo is a line of figures made by Nintendo. They base them off of many of their IPs, and are small but well made figures. They even interact with games in many ways. They have figures of Mario, Link, or even more lesser known characters like Shulk (pictured here) or Ness! Some may be a bit expensive, but it's so worth it to have an officially made figures of some of my favorite characters!

Final Box

The final box looks just like it should look... except for the fact that the print shop printed it upside down. That's okay, though, because it's still a very good final piece and looks awesome. I'm very excited to actually put it on my shelf and show off not only my shulk amiibo, but also that I made the thing that he's housed in. This is the best work that my entire team all came together to create.

The Team

My group consisted of Drew and Michael. I made the dieline, while Drew made the collage on the back. Michael worked on the custom graphics. It was a big team effort to create this. I took more of a leadership position, but I couldn't have done it without the help from my team members.

Reflection

I'm not going on in the graphic design focus strand next year, so this is my final project in that stand. I've grown so much as a graphic designer in this year and am so glad that I was able to learn and grow so much and have become graphic design literate. I'll look back very fondly on the class, and do not regret taking this.
